NAVELBINE® Oral: administration

A recognised expertise in oncology

This strong commitment to research in oncology was illustrated recently by Pierre Fabre’s commitment to participate in the Toulouse Campus Center (new Pierre Fabre Research and Development Center situated in Langlade - France) in Toulouse (France) due to open in 2009. With more than 1,100 employees active in 12 centres, Pierre Fabre Médicament, the pharmaceutical branch of the Group, concentrates an annual budget representing more

than 23% of its medical product turnover on Research & Development in 5 strategic areas that correspond to major public health concerns:

  • oncology,
  • central nervous system,
  • cardio-vascular diseases,
  • immunology applied to the prevention of infectious diseases and anti-cancer therapy,
  • dermatology.
Oncology research

With the support of a highly active policy of partnerships with public and private institutions, Pierre Fabre Laboratories focus their efforts on the R&D of original compounds of natural, synthetic or biological origin. R&D in Oncology is focused on areas of major medical interest, that is on types of cancer with a high incidence and mortality such as specific solid tumours (breast, lung, colon, ovary, bladder or ENT cancers) or, in onco-haematology, lymphomas, myelomas or bone marrow transplants.

Research in oncology is Pierre Fabre’s area of excellence. It represents the major therapeutic field of the Group and has been supported for several years by a very significant effort. Around 50% of R&D investments in the Group’s medical product branch are currently devoted to oncology. Pierre Fabre has thus become the second company in France in terms of investment in oncological research.
